All are invited to attend a Town Hall meeting between republican candidates.
This 2nd Congressional District Town Hall will be held at First Baptist Concord, 11704 Kingston Pike, Knoxville on February 20, 2014 at 6:30 PM. (in the large A frame chapel).

The incumbent Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. and his challenger, Jason Zachary are invited to attend this event. Congressman Duncanís congressional schedule was consulted to select a date when he would be present in the District. Jason Zachary has accepted the invitation and agreed to participate.

As of now, Congressman Duncan has declined the invitation; however, we are hopeful he will reconsider and attend.

Questions will be taken from the audience and the candidates will be permitted to engage in an exchange regarding issues that concern the 2nd Congressional District and our country.

I really like Zachary, he is a up standing man, husband and father. I think it is time for Mr. Duncan jr. to step aside. he has not been listening to the people that have put him in his current position, we need some one who will and I really think Mr. Zachary can be the one to do it.

My biggest problem with Mr. Duncan is that his "public service" has been a career which he inherited from his father. That was never the intention of the founders.

Much of our country's problems would be quickly reversed if all politicians could ONLY serve a single term.

Many people have been calling for term "limits", but I don't think that's the best answer. We need SINGLE terms, with no RE-elections, period. The career politicians tend to frame everything in context to how their decisions effect their re-elections rather than what's best for America.

Not to mention, currently, 25% (one year) of a 4-year term is largely wasted by a politician intensely campaigning for re-election(s).
Is THAT being a "public servant"?
Doing away with re-elections, we would effectively increase the real "service" time from 3 to 4 years on a typical 4-year term.

I agree.
The current system is flawed because it "progressively" empowers career politicians, and their incumbent name recognition helps keep them in a growing state of power even when their service record is poor.
