Ok, I have time and permission to go get one. Which his preferred around here? I have never owned a crossbow so help is greatly appreciated. Like to spend under $600 so $599 is ok, lol.

I prefer TenPoint
Animal rights "What do you feel when you shoot an innocent deer?"
Hunter "A slight recoil."

I know you did not mention this brand but I would definitely look at an Excalibur. You can change the string yourself and they are unreal accurate!

Go shoot the Mission 320MXB its easy to cock light weight lifetime warranty & you can change out strings & harness cables widout a press. Its a better crossbow than either of the 2 you asked about.
Marie Laveau Matrix 355

I have both a TenPoint and a Barnett. The TenPoint cost about $1000, and the Barnett cost about $350.

Other than the TenPoint having a slightly better camoflauge design, there's not much difference between them.

They both shoot just as fast, just as accurately, just as loud, and both kill deer dead.

If I had to do it again I'd just buy the Barnett and not the TenPoint, but only because the TenPoint costs so much more. TenPoint has the Wicked Ridge line of less expensive crossbows that I would invest in if I were back in the market again.

Crossbows have come a long way in the past 4 years. You can find quality in almost every brand, and brand is no longer as important as it once was. They all do the same thing, have about the same features with a few minor differences here and there.

The one thing that I would definitely look for, and it will add some money to your purchase, is a crank-cocking device. The only reason that's important is if you are hunting out of a treestand. You don't want to change your center of gravity on a small platform while using a rope cocking device. The crank-cocking device allows you to safely cock your crossbow while in a treestand.

My son and I have owned both. No comparison..Tenpoint hands down on quality and performance.
My son and I both had bad experiences with Barnett and I will never buy another Barnett crossbow again.
Just my experience and opinion.
Good luck, David
