After being thoroughly disappointed with the 870 i bought last year I'm in the market for a new scatter gun...i shot a tri star in a dove field this yearand i liked the feel of it and it seems to be a solid gun and its affordable for an all around gun...my question is, have any of you guys owned one and how does it perform in the turkey woods, i think it takes beretta chokes but not 100%

That's what I have. I got a 20 gauge semi auto. I'm not a turkey hunter but as my screen name says, I do a lot of crow hunting and mine has killed a BUNCH of crows. I really like mine...perhaps my most used gun and one of my cheapest guns I've ever bought. They do have a small "break in" period in which they wont cycle really light loads that well...the book recommended some heavier loads. So my first few crow outings I used pheasant loads in it, and after that, I can shoot anything in it and it cycles fine.

Wow first bad review I have heard on the 870. If you don't mind me asking what happened?

Remington is most likely what happened. If you have noticed, over the last twenty years their quality has been on a steady decline.

I know a few people that have bought 870's in the last 2-3 years and have had all kinds of trouble out of them. Seems they jam up crazy easy and just aren't put together like their older models are.

If a 870 jams it is due to the shooter short stroking the action.

A lot of things these days lately are sacrificing quality to save a few cents. Quality made products are not as important as they used to be

i never thought id have anything negative to say about an 870 after owning a couple of the older ones...the one i bought last year jammed a lot on me no matter what shells i was shooting
i looked at a stoeger at Bass Pro this weekend and i liked it a lot, plus the price is pretty nice on it lol.
was really just wondering if anyone here had any experience with the the tristar guns in the turkey woods
