My wife about had a heart attack when I came walking in the door with 3 bow boxes. This is what happens when you can't decide which bow you liked best, and have worked every weekend except Thanksgiving for the past 3 months. Haha. This will be thinned down over the next little bit, to just one.

All are 2013 models. Black. 60# limbs.

BowTech CPXL -- First B.T. I've had since the 82nd Airborne several yrs ago. It's a TON smoother drawing than the 82nd was but I ain't got it setup yet, and haven't fired the first arrow out of it. Its the first CPXL I think I've even held. I shot the CPX after they first came out but the shop didn't have the XL in at the time. That is what kept me away from one this long...the draw on the CPX was not very good and I figured the CPXL would be the same way. But too many people kept raving about them and I had to see for myself. They draw NOTHING alike. When I first pulled it from the box and looked everything over, I pulled it back and said "uh oh...it's just like the CPX..really stiff with a hump". But the bow was set on 31" draw length. I done a draw length adjustment on it and at 28.5 it is super smooth. Can't wait to shoot it.

Prime Impact -- I liked these bows when I first shot them. Just never could get past them being a brand new company and already wanting $900+ for their bows...bare bow price, without taxes. But they have seemed to establish themselves with a reputation for extreme accuracy. And I got this one used with a brand new set of hot pink string/cables on it \:\) Nothing is more satisfying than having folks dog you about having hot pink on your bow before/during a shoot...and then absolutely blistering them with it when the dust settles. Need to have a cam swap done on this one before I can start setting it up.

Strother Moxie -- The Moxie is a bow I'm no stranger to. I shot one last yr and really liked it. My wife has a Strother Hope in AP Black and I lusted for that color when I first saw it. When I happened up on this Moxie in that color, I was tempted. But says I "I already have two bows coming...don't need a 3rd". But I had to send the guy a message asking what his bottom dollar was, just out of curiosity. I couldn't pass it up for $300 shipped. In my opinion...it is the best looking one of the 3; just for the color.

Now...to start tuning and getting a feel for each one, and figuring out which one I can shoot the best with before the Florida ASA shoot in a couple weeks \:\) Any predictions? Fun times are ahead.

I agree. When I went to look and shoot them, the price of the CPX and CPXL was $1,000 with nothing on it, before taxes. That's why I wont buy a new bow any more. These 3 bows I have here are 2013 bows in mint condition...can't find a single spot on two of them, and one has a little mark where the arrow rest was mounted. Otherwise...almost brand new bows. I have $500 in the CPXL. So basically these guys had these bows for a handful of months and they lost half their value.

I'm really excited to get 'em up and going. The problem is...the same thing that allowed me to buy them (lots and lots of over time) is going to hinder me from setting them up and shooting like I need to be doing.

Well some prelim results:

Got all three of them setup and tuned. And have spent a great deal of time shooting two of them. I already knew what the Moxie was about so I've spent the vast majority of my time behind the Impact and CPXL.

Of those two, the CPXL is my favorite. The Impact's draw is a bit stiffer than the CPXL. I also think the CPXL has less thump at the shot, and is a great deal quieter. The Impact does hold on target a bit better though, but by playing with some weight I can get the CPXL close to the same. In shooting them, I seemingly shoot the CPXL a bit better/consistent, but it would really be splitting hairs as to which shoots the best. If nothing else, the CPXL will probably be joining me in the woods this fall. I do shoot the Impact much better with the grip off of it. The CPXL's grip is just fine the way it is for my liking.

All of this said; I threw a blade rest on the Moxie and went to give it a spin and shattered the end of an arrow on about my 3rd shot. The draw cycle of the Moxie has a small hump at the end of it and then falls fast into the valley. I had already developed a feel for the other two bows and when I jumped to the Moxie, I had a hard time keeping the arrow on the rest after it would come off the hump...it drops extremely fast and bounces the arrow off the blade. The Moxie is probably the louder of the 3 and has more jump at the shot than the 3. But if I had to pick the bow today that I am taking to Florida...it is the Moxie. That bow is scary accurate, even considering I've not been shooting bows in a few months.
