I looked at the wader jeans Poser posted. They are the same basic breathable wader design that Cabelas, Lacrosse, and others offer. I had a pair of breathable waders when I lived in MS because my duck hunting/scouting there involved a lot of long walks in moderate temps to sloughs where chest waders were a must.

The breathable waders are lighter/cooler than neoprene but don't really fit or wear any better for long hikes. They also are not durable at all. I bought a pair of breathable Lacrosses. They lasted half as long as a pair of 3.5 mm neoprene Hodgmans.

Based on conversations with coon hunters and trappers, I think the Nite Lite Swamp Hunters offer the best combinattion of light-weight, durable, and easy to wear on long walks of any hip boot.

Poser,

As much as you like to rabbit hunt, have you thought about getting a pair of dogs?

Not really. Hound dogs around the house drive me nuts with all the howlin. Then you have to run them. Then you have to not lose them. Then you have to find them. Then you have to keep your wife from turning them into house dogs.

All issues that can be addressed with proper training. Training of your wife that is. \:D

With a pair of dogs, you could double kills and cut your time/effort in half. Plus it's just plain fun.

I hope to get a couple dogs in the future because I think rabbit hunting with hounds will be a great way to get my girls into hunting.

There are a ton of places on the WMAs I hunt that get little to no rabbit hunting pressure because they require more than 100 yards of walking.

WMAn,
I've had the same though a bunch of times, but I just can't make myself want to take care of a bunch of dogs for the other months of the year.

I guess what I really want is for my dad to decide to get a couple of dogs \:\)

He'd probably only get squirrel dogs though. That has been more of his passion later in life.
