Marched around in knee deep water all day yesterday and managed to bag a couple of big ol' swamp rabbits -couple of swimmers and a couple of runners. Came home, sauteed up a rabbit heart for a quick snack.

I can't really tell in the picture - you guys use knee boots or waders in that stuff?

I have a lot of that type of terrain that I hunt on occasion that sometimes gets too deep for knee boots, but man does it suck to muck around in waders all day. I've thought about thigh waders, but I'm honestly not sure how well they'd hold up to brambles and such without getting holes punched in them.

I wore knee boots with the tops cinched tight to keep the mud from sucking them off. I used to wear hip boots, but marching around for miles in hip boots is pretty taxing (plus, my hip boots dry rotted). My buddy was wearing hip boots and he had a much easier time as I had to find ways around primary channels.

I saw that Cabelas has these new "wader jeans" that would be perfect for this sort of hunting, but they are $250+ : http://www.cabelas.com/product/Cabelas-D...ch-All+Products

You might want to try these:

http://www.huntsmart.com/Nite-Lite-Swamp-Hunter

Coon hunters and trappers I have talked to over the years swear by them.

When did you switch to an O/U? Where's the 500?

I always figured you for a side-by-side kind of guy \:D

I'll have to look into these pseudo-wader options. I think that Swamp Hunter setup might be in my future.
