Had a yellow lab growl at my son in our driveway once.

Key word being "once".

Don't give a crap what kind it is, threaten me I remind you I am at the top of the food chain.

Far as pits go, glad there are some good ones out there, I just never met one.

Yep, but I am "on guard" at a much higher level when I see certain breeds, and all the bully breeds fall into that category. Same with people, If I were locked in a room with someone who looked like Mike Tyson or Dog the Bounty hunter I'd keep a closer eye on them than Erkle or Justin Beber. Its human nature.

Been there. Not a fun feeling having one of those things coming at you.

Side note: Neighbors can hear a .357 being fired from inside my garage. Found that interesting.

I had some butthole neighbors that had a vicious dog . Called the law after it attacked me . Got lucky like you and didn't contact skin. Law wouldn't do anything and said if I shot the dog I go to jail
Sold the house and moved in a couple weeks . Not too long after I m
moved the dog mauled a child . If the jerks had listened It could have saved them a lot of money and a kid that was messed up bad .

The cop was wrong.

You can legally shoot a dog if it is threatening you or someone else. You cannot retreat then return and shoot the dog, even seconds later. An exception is if you retreated to get a gun to protect someone else still in danger.

Let me clarify, you can shoot if it is threatening you and has the ability to hurt you. A dog behind a fence might be threatening you but it poses no real danger. A poodle or a dog being controlled on a leash probably isn't a real threat.
