There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to make one out of PVC or 5 gallon buckets

I use 3 inch PVC drain pipe with a cap for top. In years past I have just set it on the ground and deer wout digg around the bottom till the feed would come out , problem : once they dug to much the feed would just continue to pour out the bottom until I readjusted the PVC pipe closer to the ground . Ideal : this year I was thinking of taking a second cap glue it on the bottom with a notch cut in it to let the feed come out at a more consistent rate.

I am in the middle of making a few now,(new design) using PVC 3" or 4" builders choice.

material list:

1 - 6' length of pipe
1 - 16" length of pipe
1 - 45 deg. elbow
2 - end caps (same size as pipe)

I am using small screws to assemble to avoid the smell factor of the PVC glue.

Just a quick drawing to show how to assemble, the 45* elbow allows the feed to flow down the pipe, and the cap on the end of the 16" pipe controls spillage and stops the feed from just pouring out the pipe.

Hope this is useful

PS: I am using 4" pipe to allow for a larger opening at the bottom, also cut the bottom cap in half and you can get 2 feeders out of 3 caps.

Hey FD- what do you do about rain? Are your feeders covered somehow? I saw a similar design on, believe it or not, an episode of Finding Bigfoot and wondered what the guy did about wet corn and it potentially molding.

55 gal barrel with removable lid... Cut a 2"x4" rectangle out of the side at bottom..
Now you got a gravity type feeder that holds 325lbs of corn.. Don't have to fill this up very often about every 3-4 weeks just depending on how many deer you got using the area. I leave my barrel out yr around so they get used to it..

I only use mine after the season here, mid Dec - March, it is very unusual for use to get rain due to the cold temps. I actually have not put one of this design to use yet, it was in the drawing stages, but I will now add some sort of cover now that you mentioned it.

Maybe a flip up lid that the deer have to step on to open the feeder.............LMAO. ;\)
