The family all gathered at my mothers house, so everyone brought a little something. My contribution was a mixed meat pie, it consisted of duck breast, venison breakfast sausage, bacon and herbs and spices.

Served it up with some quality spicy mustard and mothers homemade garlic dill pickles.

Had to work NYE, so I did a little something last night. Made a black pepper crusted venison steak roast, wrapped in bacon. Served with balsamic/maple/honey roasted brussel sprouts, homemade butternut squash soup and apple walnut pie for dessert.

I think that is the biggest meat pie I have ever seen.

Was made in a 3.5 x 9" spring pan.............LOL

It was as heavy as a small boat anchor.

I don't think I've ever even seen one but it looks amazing! Nice job, FDXX75. I'd love to have a recipe for that if you want to share.

The recipe was a little unclear about assembling the meats, my mind was thinking greasy mess in bottom, so I precooked the sausage and bacon separately, drained the sausage and reserved the bacon fat for later. I braised the duck breasts in a cast iron dutch oven in chicken broth then diced and added to the sausage and bacon. It seemed dry to me so added some of the bacon fat back into the meat blend and mixed well.
It actually held together really well.

I will post the recipe tomorrow morning, just got home from work.......1 hr. drive in this horrible snow store, I am beat.
