Today I was hunting with mudbone and we were walking back to the truck and jumped 2 deer in CRP at 10.30 am. A doe and a pretty decent buck. My scope was turned way up so I couldn't even find the deer but mudbone fired 2 shots and missed. We looked and only found tracks going into the woods and across the boundary onto private land. Right by that fence crossing were a couple very nice rubs. All throughout the crp was tons of deer crap, lots of it fresh.

So I'm going back soon and will climb a tree on the edge of the CRP. My gun will pretty much cover the whole field.

Now which day would you hunt. Today it was overcast. Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a perfect wind, and I have all day off to hunt if I like. Thursday I can only hunt the morning but it will be rain/snow mix and breezy, wind will be tolerable but not perfect. Only reason I'd want to hunt Thursday is because of the cloud cover, seems to me the deer move and bed differently with the clouds and today it was cloudy when we jumped the deer. Seems I see more deer in CRP on cloudy days. I could be wrong though, and am definitely leaning toward Wednesday. Just looking for a couple other opinions.

So being this late in the season, I can't be too picky. I'd like to kill another deer or two if I can. However I might hold out just a little in case the buck shows up. What do y'all think are the chances he might show up again? He was bedded in there with a doe and there were multiple rubs in the area so I doubt he was passing through. Think one instance of being shot at will run him out of there for good?

Agree with the two above. Hunt until the state says it over for the season.
