So while I am back in TN visiting family and friends over the holiday I am going to get some hunting in. I was originally looking at hunting Percy Priest, but doing some research it looks like might be better off going somewhere else.
I will be in the area from the 23rd until probably the 29th, initially in Murfreesboro area, but after the 26th I can pretty much go wherever. Pretty flexible, loosely planning along the lines of if the weather is not horrible I plan on hiking in and camping for a few days. If the weather is horrible then I will find a hotel somewhere to base out of.
So I am thinking Yanahli or Cheatham WMA's? Any other recommendations?

I don't know of many places where you can hike in and camp. You may be right about Percy, but this late in the season it really isn't too bad, especially during the week. In your situation, I'd try go to Cheatham, but Yanahli is closer to the Boro.

I have not hunted Cheatham, but I have driven through there twice since Thursday, 12/19. I have maybe seen four trucks parked. It does not look like many people are out hunting that property...and it is large.

I think that Yahanali is closed for deer hunting now... has been in years past so small game hunters can hunt it undisturbed. There's a camping area at Cheatham.

What? Screw small game hunters. It's deer season. If you want to shoot rodents go during rat season or whatever it is you hunt.

What I would do is while in M'boro hit Priest or Yanahli. Cheatham is further from M'boro then either of the other two.

Keep in mind many will be off work too so pressure may go up no matter where you hunt. No matter what you will have to find those over looked spots or find thick stuff that no one wants to hunt.

Cheatham:
1-You can camp in the designated area.
2-It is over 20,000 acres.
3-It has some large bucks and a fair deer population.
4-This time of year, it is not heavily hunted.
5-If you know what you are doing, the best hunting may be within sight of the road. In most instances, you accomplish nothing by walk way back in. However, there is sure plenty of way back in to walk to.

Cheatham is sounding better and better. Looks like I have some private lands to hunt while I'm in the Boro with the folks, then I'm going to head up to Cheatham and camp for a few days and maybe put somesomething in the freezer.
Any further advice on hunting Cheatham? Feel free to pm me or text to 7202125838.
Thanks!
Don

As for the hunting question, Cheatham is a good place to hunt and as for Columbia scott the last time I checked small game hunters buy their license just like you and have just as much right to hunt PUBLIC land. I hope that post was a joke.

If you kill something in Cheatham it's a trophy. Good luck. And I would hunt the hardest to access places. Bowriter has an opinion and no question there are places by the road you can hunt and see deer, but if you have only a couple days get in there and hunt the edges of thickets that are not easily accessible. Let us know how your trip turns out

Also I would pick out a half dozen farms on a gis and give a few hey misters around the burro

Hunting a stand on some private land my family has permission to hunt and my dad has a stand or two on this afternoon.

Then I am heading to the Cheatham WMA to set up camp so I can get up a bit early and move back into the woods. Will likely spend the mid-day hiking around and looking for an area to set up for the sunset. Assuming no deer killed, repeat the above for Sunday, then its back to Colorado for me.
If I am reading this right the only camping permitted at Cheatham is at the campground, but I am hoping to get ahold of the WMA manager and see if they will permit backcountry camping. Either way works, just would like to be able to move back in away from any sort of crowd.
