We have a Japanese Maple in the front yard and wanted to have it removed. Are there any landscapers or tree guys on site that might be interested in this tree? Tree is 4 1/2 feet tall and wide. Please contact me at 615 477-5823.

You should call a commercial nursery. A tree that size can cost a very large sum of money. They may come remove it, especially if you are giving it away.

We have a Japanese maple in the front yard, probably 12 feet tall. What's it worth? Knoxville area.

The jap maples that bring the high dollars are the dissectums or "lace leafs" like the crimson queen, viridis, or red dragon. Most of them are mounding and cascading in growth. I think there is only a couple dissectums in the 12ft range and would take quite a while to reach it.

The standard palmatums like Bloodgood, Beni Kawa, and Coral Bark will grow that tall or higher but they do not fetch the same money. They have a more standard branchy upright growth pattern.

In pricing the trees, it is really dependent on the tree's type, age, health, characteristics and whether you have available buyers. The value in the jap maple is how "pretty" it is, and how well it will fit the buyers situation. If you have to sell the tree, the price is what someone is willing to pay. If you have time to market it and find buyers, you might be able to set a better price.

One problem with a tree that large is it would definitely call for a professional tree mover, and depending on the season, heavy pruning might have to happen to ensure the trees survival.

I am glad I saw this! I was going to introduce mine to a chainsaw after deer season! I love the tree but the lady that planted it put it directly in the way of getting to my backyard.
