With the terrible weather, how did the PI hunt go? Have seen nothing about it. Any kills?

There was a thread. If I'm not mistaken only 4 deer were killed. It would suck to put in for that hunt for 5+ years and get the weather those folks had to endure!

A boss at work got drawn. He sad he seen a few monsters but no shots. The sign of deer is just unreal, everywhere you walk into the woods there is sign everywhere. He has a pic of his buddy standing next to a rub, the guys arm is sticking straight out and the rub goes from his hand to the ground. He said he will be back. I guess I need to start putting in for it. I never understood what the big deal was about the place but after finally talking to someone in person about P.I I think he talked me into trying it, it's just a long time to wait. Took him and his buddy 8 years.

Killing a deer meant very little on this hunt for me when I got to go 6 years ago.

I got drawn last year. Weather was horrible.... Tons of deer sign. Few deer moving. Saw 3 does all weekend... Step dad saw 1 little buck .. The flood a couple years ago messed that place up..

That thread with the pics was buried on the General Forum about a week ago. You could probably use the "Search" feature to find it.

The one huge buck mentioned was a 5.5 year old 14-point, if I recall correctly. It was extremely impressive!

4 bucks were taken COMBINED from the island and Ensley Bottoms units, so the success rate is the lowest I've seen since I started halfway keeping up with it about 5 years ago.

This year was my 4th time to go on the doe hunts on the island (I've never hunted the Ensley unit, because that is buck only, with no antlerless option). I will never wait 8-10 years for the buck hunt, so I just don't worry about it.

Interestingly enough, the amount of deer sign on the doe hunts (this is after the epic flood we had on the MS river a couple years back) has been very poor. Perhaps even more ironic is that I shot does on the last 2 years, but never killed one on the hunts prior to the flood when there was more sign and more deer around. Odd \:\)
