First off, is the hunt open to anyone with a big game license?
If so my brother and I may go. I have hunted Catoosa on a few occasions but not near enough to consider myself familiar with the area. What areas give the highest chance of success and any tips advice appreciated as we are deer hunters with little hog experiance.

Yes. Last year you didn't even need a license, I'm not sure if you need one this tear or not. Keep moving, sitting still won't do it. Stalk into the wind around the rocks and laurel. Listen for dogs! A lot of times the hog is several hundred yards in front of the dogs

Another question. I plan on carrying my rifle but would I need my ccp to carry my pistol as well?

I am thinking of going to this. Can out of staters participate without a license? I have a buddy from VA thats wants to go as well.
