I would just buy 1 box and see if the rifle shot them well enough to suit you. Whitetail deer are just not that tough to need such a hard bullet. Where I see the Barnes at its best is the marginal calibers for a species, like the 22 caliber and 24 caliber for deer. I`d buy a box of 150 grain Fusions and compare the results.

They'll do fine for deer hunting. Copper bullets are expensive.

I'm wanting to try some 70gr TSX's on deer this year, they are waiting for my Bushmaster AR15 and gun season or maybe some coyotes when it cools off a little.

I've been using the 75 grain X-bullets in my .243 for over 15 years and they work great and consistantly drop deer right in their tracks. However, the one deer I shot broadside through the lungs with a 168 grain TSX out of my .30-06 ran about 85 yards before he dropped. I know a sample of one isn't very much useful data for the .30 calibers, but I was pretty surprised when he didn't just fall over dead like they do when I use the .243. I wonder if maybe it punched through him so quickly that he didn't know he was hit, where the lighter .243's slow down more and sometimes stop inside and transfer more energy?

I used a 243wssm a couple years back with the 90gr X bullets if I remember correctly and they dropped deer in their tracks just like you said. I have had good luck with 168 TSX's and I had one or two run about 40-50yds when being shot broadside, but a blind man could have followed the blood trail. When I shoot a deer I want a massive blood trail, thats one of the reasons I have stayed with the copper bullets.
