I have no idea where to start.
I would of never guess her to become the killer she is after all this is the girl that would never go hunting and never kill a deer and hates to shoot guns. After killing her first last year on juvi (a spike) I figured I would never have to take her again as she enjoyed it but she is fixing to be 17 next week and i figured hanging out with me in the woods wouldnt be on the top of her list.

I was all excited as my son is old enough to shoot full power loads in his 7/08 which means no more switching loads from juvi weekend to regular gun season for me. Brooklyn went with her mom to see her aunt Kelly in Chicago and thus missing her last ever juvi hunt. When they got back she was coming home from work and saw like 12 deer she come flying in the house to tell me about it. Heck the way she was acting I thought she just met some famous pop singer. Then the words I thought I'd never hear. "Are you gonna take me hunting I want to go hunting" I almost fell off the couch. I asked if she was serious she was like yep.

So i sighted in the rifle with my youth load 120 nosler ballistic tip over 40 grains RE15 seated .010 off lands 2722 fps avg. It was dead on about 200 yds. which was about 7.5 inches low at 290

Well due to her work schedule and the fact she does not want to hunt in the AM we were able to go sunday eve opening weekend of rifle season here in TN.

Tyler my son is cold as ice at the moment of truth when killing a deer, my wife Katie is the same just cold no nerves. Brooklyn is kinda like a 17 year old version of Stan Potts. She gets excited just like me.

4 pm we had one come out about 300 yds and she was like where where and then we had 2 more a lil closer about 260 ish and she let her nerves get the best of her and missed 2 times. This is the part that is really my fault I wish I had tactical knobs on this zeiss 3.5-10x44 scope I could of dialed it in and she could aim normal. I will send it to zeiss and have them put on come mid JAN. She was getting confused on where to aim a lil high or at top of the back as the does had no idea what was going on. Well they went back in the thicket, only to come out 10 minutes later.

Now it is getting toward dark they stepped out in the middle of the field at 288, I told her put it at the very top of her back above the shoulder. She shot I did not hear bullet impact but the doe ran like she was hit and went to the un cut part of the field, well the lil one came back but not both of them so i was not really sure she got it but deep inside I felt good about it.
Brooklyn was tore up and was like did I get her did i get her. I wanted to say yes but didnt want to get her hopes up. I did not let her take a poke at the lil one as it was getting close to last light. We we rode out the and the land owner came out with his side by side and 2 dogs. Well when it is dark you can mis judge distance we were so close but about 60 yds farther back in the field. I drove all around her.

I told her I will hunt the field in the am and go look for her in the day light. She was bummed out. I told her if I find it I will text herat school today.

Well when light broke this morning I got a good visual. After shooting my lil doe this morning..... probably the same one from last night I got down went to the spot of the shot. I used range finder and lasered back to the stand 288 yds. Then went 30 to 40 yds in the direction she ran and there she was laying 3 feet into the edge of the tall grass.

Great shot placement bullet did not exit as there was only 1200 fpe give or take on impact.

She now has the longest shot with my youth load, I killed a 12 pointer 1 time at 279 yds. Other than me she has the longest kill in the family at 288 topping Tyler 258 yds and her mom with 224 yds

I am so proud of her and love her so much. She will be 17 next week. 3 months after she turned 16 she got a job, she works 25 hours a week, makes A's and B's in school as a junior pays her own car insurance and cell phone. She is bad to the bone. She aint perfect by no means she still get in trouble a lil here and there and she will not quit texting... irritates the crap out of me... i made her leave it in the truck while we was hunting.

Heck she fell a sleep in the stand and every time a squirrel made a noise she was all over it. She has named this deer "DeLorean" after the car. kids
