20 gauge will more than do the job if you can do your part. That is why most folks prefer the 12 gauge....more shot.

I like my 12 as the best all round gun. But the 20ga is my favorite. IMO there is nothing better than a sweet shooting 20ga. The best and smoothest gun I have ever shot, that shouldered the easiest and overall best feeling gun ever, and thats including rifles also, was a Browning Gold in 20ga. Only shot about 3 boxes of shells thru it, friend let me shoot it one day, but man, that thing was smooth. If you can hit'em with a 12, then a 20 should be no problem.

I now use a 20 ga for doves and love it. I always used a 12 before, but as I get older I find the 20 more fun to shoot. A 20 with an IC coke will kill doves further out than a lot of folks realize.
