with bow season ended and deer season half over, i'm really wanting to get into 3d shoots and indoor shoots n what not....i'm going to look up some places around murfreesboro that have shoots, ad just start from the ground up. Any advice on place to go? I definitely need a new release but i'd like to try some before i spend a pretty penny on one...new sight as well. I know some of yall have been at this much longer than i have and would have some insight on where to start

shootsThere are clubs all over mid-tn: old hickory, necedah, frogs, cheatham and others as well. I'm biased but Old Hickory is the best...lol. Most clubs are still working on schedules and most post them in December. Alot of clubs start in January and will have one a month and end in August or September. I will be putting together a list of shoots and Ruger said he will sticky them up top for us. http://www.3dshoots.com is another good place to get schedules and related info.

As far as what to shoot, I would start with a non-competitive class (fun class) until you get used to the scoring, the targets and the formats. If you decide to really get serious about it, you will need to get your bow/arrow combination matched to where you fall into the rule guidelines for whatever class you decide to shoot.

If I can help in any way just let me know.

I don't shoot indoor, but if I'm not mistaken Joe Fiato at the now closed Hermitage Archery is still running an indoor shoot once a week—i'll see if I can find more info on that.

I talked to Matt and he said Joe is having the shoots. I'd like to shoot some 5 spot.

Indoor is fun , it's alot more nerve wrecking than most people think . When you have 20 people at the line shooting at the same time it makes you a little nervous . I am far from the best indoor shooter but I have a blast shooting it .

The indoor shoots at the former Hermitage Archery will start up again on Thursday December 5th this year and run until the state indoor in March.

The price of the shoot is $10.00. This is a practice shoot and your entry fee goes for targets and environmental control. Joe opens the doors for practice at 5:00 p.m. The official shoot start time is 6:30 p.m.

The shop is located behind Joe Fiato's house at:

4319 Central Pike
Hermitage, TN 37076

I'm glad to hear that Joe is still active in the indoor shooting. He's a great guy and I recommend his shoots to anyone.

I've never tried the indoor thing. I'm probably not cut out for it though. I wouldn't like being on the line with several other shooters all doing their thing. I don't even like to bowl with people on either side of my lane. Lots of distractions I could think of. Especially if there happened to be a left handed shooter beside me on my right side. I would be tempted to make a silly face or fart.
