it seems the rise of smaller companies is the new thing, companies like Elite and Obesssion are building them more to what people want and have a warranty to back them up.

i don't care for Mathews or Hoyt these days, IMO they just keep putting the same thing out there with a new name on it each year.

Thank the Lord I got out of wanting a new bow each year. I've shot many Mathews. My favorite was the MQ1. If they came out with that bow again with some modernization, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. But most of the stuff being put out I don't really like. Lower axa, shorter brace height. I shoot a Hoyt Katera and that's about as small as I want to go!

It's hard to introduce yourself to other people when most Mathews shooters I've encountered have their nose stuck so high in the air they would drown in a light rain shower. That is UNLESS they see another Mathews shooter. Then it's like they are "in the club". I know this because that is the way it was when I use to have Mathews bows. The other guys would say hi, talk to you, etc on the range. The very next shoot that I went to after buying a non Mathews bow...it was like a switch was flipped. I walked by a group that I had even shot with on a few occasions and had a good time with, and would talk to every time I saw them on the range. After they saw I had a new bow and I said hello to them on the range, they literally turned their backs and pretended like I wasn't there! The only difference was the bow I had in my hand. From that day on, when I would see them they would turn their back to me. I had to more the less force them to say hello to me. I guarantee you if I went back to a shoot with a Mathews in my hand, it would be like a light is switched and they would act like I was an old friend they haven't seen in a while. How do I know? Because it actually happened back earlier this yr when I was playing around with a Mathews C4 as a target bow. When they saw what I had, that's exactly how they acted. Later in the yr when I was shooting the Strother Moxie...they were back to that back turning thing.

I'm reminded of a Proverb. "A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly".

I honestly care not what brand bow somebody else is shooting. Just don't try to act like you're high and mightier than me or anybody else just because we don't shoot a bow from the same company you do.

So because of those guys you are going to judge all of us? If I went thru life judging a whole group of people for one reason or another I wouldn't have any friends... Like I said people who show prejudice towards someone else before.giving them a chance is no better than that group you speak of..

Wow...I'm not crazy about what Mathews has released the past couple years but you've got a bona fide serious resentment \:D

Talk therapy maybe? That's some serious pent up anger coming out lol

You are correct UT/General Lee. It reminds me of the preps in junior high/high school where if you didn't wear such and such brand clothes or if they didn't come from such and such store, that you were treated like low life crap. But if you went and got a pair of pants like the preps wore, then you were in the "in" crowd. I didn't like it then and I sure don't like it now.

I can't understand the idea of judging thousands based on the actions of say a handful?

I wonder how the families of the victims of 9-11 feel toward Muslim extremists ;\) Sometimes all it takes is a "handful" to put a bad taste in your mouth. Like eating out some place and gettin food poisoning...if you look at the "glass half full" then you see it different. You think of all the people that didn't get poisoning. But when it happened to you...it makes personal and you see it different. The example I gave was just one of several I could have named. I just gave the most recent to show a contrast between when I had a Mathews bow and when I did not. I am just one of many who have experienced the superiority complex behavior. You don't have to look far to find examples of others. How many hunting "pros" do you hear saying stupid things like "THAT's why I shoot a Mathews" after a bow kill. As if the deer could read the label on the bow and said "I think I will meander over there and be shot by him...he's got a Mathews". It's that promotion attitude that fuels the complex on to the regular Joe. Then suddenly that "handful" starts to grow quite a bit.

Another example. A new guy at work came over to talk. He found out about me tournament shooting and asked what bow I shot. I told him and here it came. "Well I shoot a Mathews"...as if we were all suppose to stop and bow down. I asked him what model and he didn't even know! He said "I don't know but it's a Mathews". lol All I said was "they make popular bows. That's for sure. I see a lot of them out there".
