I shared this story earlier, but this is ridiculous. My family rents out my grandparents old house and found out the guy living there has been busted for drug charges/theft. You'd think having a record would make it easy to kick the guy out.

We had to give the guy the whole month of October since he'd paid it before we found out about the arrest. Well, he's out on bail and we told him he was evicted beginning in November.

Well, it looks like he has no intention of leaving given the fact that he has sped up the destruction of the property (he's building a dirt bike "park" for his son and wanted it to be a business, but he didn't get a contract absolving us of responsibility in the event of injury so my aunt didn't approve it) by building more and more ramps and grading the land.

So, since he's evicted you'd think we could march up there and kick him out. Well, first my aunt has to get the eviction on the docket. After this happens we have to make 3 visits out to the guy, and i f he's not gone in 10 days the police can go after him.

Does that not seem like a broken system to anybody else?

This is the only place I enjoy hunting because I don't have to worry about others for the most part. I hunted it back Oct 14-15 and was worried the dude was gonna mess with my car the whole time. Not quite as relaxing as its meant to be.

Sounds like it took some time to get the legal process in order.

We have in our leases that criminal activity is grounds for immediate eviction AND the tenant understands this and agrees to vacate immediately upon written notice for violations of this portion of the lease. (we make them sign this portion in addition to the whole lease)

Still have to go before the judge IF they refuse to abide by the lease but its more open and shut when you appear.

If you have a good RE attorney 30-45 days from start to finish is what an eviction should take. Cost runs from $800-1800 on average.
If you can't trust people with freedom, how can you trust them with power ?

That is a broke system for sure. I feel for you. That's why I would let a house sit empty or tear it down before I'd ever rent. Don't want strangers of any kind living on my land and sure don't want that type character. Hope you get rid of the guy soon.

Yep, the system is messed up. It actually takes months to evict someone legally. What's wrong with that picture?
