hipster store vs. store in the hood

I walk into the hipster store and notice what I'm looking for is not on the shelf. I ask a sales guy. He says, "let me ask the manager". Comes back and says they don't have it.

Store in the hood 2-3 miles away, walk in, pick up bottle, $30 and out the door.

Hipster store wants to hold certain bottles in the back for customers on their priority list.

Most companies don't care who they sell to as long as they sell. They were probably out of stock of a certain brand. It happens a lot in liquor stores.

Isn't that just natural law?

I have a friend that works close to the "yuppie" store so I decided to kill some time. It's a big box store that has a whiskey fest every year. They usually have most everything, they just choose to not display it.

Perhaps said hipster store does not keep their entire stock on the shelves.

I received this email from my liquor store:

Pappy Van Winkle Allocation

Today is the day we dread all year. We received our very miniscule allocation of Pappy Van Winkle whiskies. At the risk of angering lots of people (who's requests we are unable to fill) we are releasing our list.

There are only a few bottles of:
10 yr $49.99
12 yr $69.99
13 yr Rye $86.99
15 yr $89.99
20 yr $149.99

Please respond with your requests & we will hopefully be able to fill them.

If you respond with a request, & we are able to fill it, we will charge your card on file.

Poser, my store got an allocation of 17 bottles this year. That includes the buffalo trace antique collection. He holds a raffle for everyone that wants a chance. I am no longer interested in those bottles. I have two left that have not been opened (Stagg/Larue Weller). I just opened the 12 yr winkle this summer when a friend came over. Maybe when the other two go dry, I may chase again.

I would like to get my hands on a 13 yr rye.
