3X in the morning twice by the same deer.....walking out 3 does catch me and run..... I stand there on the wide bush hogged levee processing that just happened....at 120 yds A doe appears and she is dead locked on me and Im wondering why she didnt take off with the others....this levee im on isnt but 3 or 4 ft high and the deer were down in the grass field....this doe was down in the field but bout to walk up onto the trail in the direction i needed to walk to leave......as soon as she turned her head i hit the deck and began my hunt!...I covered maybe 40 yds and wanted to pop up and locate her and as soon as i did she blows and runs another 20 and stops. She has a yearling with her. She takes her eyes off me and I hit the deck. There is grass and weeds 3 ft tall on each side of the trail so Im concealed as I am crawling on my stomach pushing off with my toes pulling with my elbows. Picking my bow up and placing it further up repeatedly. This time im looking through blades of grass to find her and I do. She is walking to me wondering where I went.....i get to around 30 yards between us Im soaked and wait for a chance to pop up and draw. She comes and out of nowhere she has had enough and blows and takes off; I stand up at full draw before im fully standing. She is now at what I thought was 40. I settle in and release. SWOOP!!!!! My bow goes off and its as if a water balloon goes off in my face! I watched the arrow fly right.under the heart of my doe at 50 YDS into the mud. That was exciting! Wrong yardage...|
That evening at 5:45pm I catch a buck headed to a mock scrape I made at 4pm before I could get excited he caught me reaching for my bow man it sucks hunting the ground with no face mask or blind but on the upside my first mock scrape success
