So far I think the stealth takes better night pics .the moultrie seems to have good reach .a little blurry so far . the stealth cam is washing out bad on alot of pics about 35% I would say. and batt. life sucks, two weeks tops on bats.don't know yet about batts in moultrie. Hope this might help somone looking at these two cams .

I would say the stealth takes better pics. The reason it looks like it is washing out is because the flash is so bright that it is reflecting off of the undersides of the leaves in front of the camera. Try clearing it out a little better and try it again. I believe your nite pics will be better.

Stealth is higher quality, but good pics all around!

Great pics.

I just bought the Stealth 1-450 and love it. Battery life sucks but I have read if you tweak the prongs in the battery compartment it will help battery life big time. I did buy the 12v battery add on and so far it is well worth the cash. I will check my camera this weekend and see how the new 12v battery is holding up. I like the Moultries but it seems like you roll the dice as to whether you get a good one or not. The Stealth camera will be the cameras I buy in the future.

I've been testing a Stealth I450 for some time now.

First, don't even consider buying one unless you plan to also buy the external 12V battery. Most people using the I-450 are not even getting a week's life out of the internal batteries. I could get a week, but only if the camera was taking few pictures. However, with the external 12V I'm sure you'll get more than a month's battery life.

Second, it has an amazing trigger. Even though it is reported (and tested) to have a 2 second trigger when waving your hand in front of it, that is not a real-world test. The real-world test is to walk in front of it from one side or the other, just like a deer would. The I-450 has such a wide cone of sensing that even with a 2 second trigger I can walk very fast in front of the camera and it still catches me in the center of the frame. The I-450 seriously outperformed much faster trigger-time cameras I have due to the wide sensing cone.

Third, the flash on the I-450 is the best I've ever seen. It will easily illuminate beyond 60 feet at night. It is so bright it will blast your eyes out at 40-50 feet.

Fourth, the camera takes excellent, clear pictures, some of the best I've ever seen from a commerical digital.

Now the major downside. Due to a problem with lack of adjustability in exposure times and the CMOS imager which requires long exposure times to get a clear picture, the camera has real trouble with taking low-light pictures. At dawn and dusk--when deer are most active--the camera physically cannot get a good picture. If it doesn't flash, there is not enough light even at its longest exposure time and the picture is very under-exposed ("black-out"). If the camera does flash, there is too much light and the picture is severely over-exposed ("white-out"). Considering dawn and dusk are peak deer movement times, many users are reporting as much as 35% of their pictures are unusable black-outs or white-outs.

You are exactly correct BSK about the exposures. The night pics are awsome unless they get to close.I ordered the battery pack last night.
