Traded my F150 in July 2012. Took the toolbox off and put in the garage. I've been looking for one for my 2005 Tundra since then. Finally decided today to measure the on off the Ford and it fits the Tundra with about 1/4 inch to spare. Who would've thunk that? Yeppers... Feel like an idgit. I thought the Tundra took a smaller box.

So, you're saying a half-ton truck is about the same size as a... a half-ton truck? ;\)

The tundra I have is the Gen1 truck. The smaller Tundra.

LOL. I felt like a kid with a new toy. I've never had a truck without a toolbox. I even went all redneck and hooked my CB back up. Might be the only way to communicate soon with this government we have.

I tried putting a truck box from an older Ford F150 on my newer Silverado and it was too wide to fit. Did some trading into one a bit narrower, but I don't blame you for thinking that they may be a different size, even though they are both .5 ton trucks

I bought this box when I bought the 2009 Sierra. I traded it on the 2011 F150. Bad luck with both trucks... The GMC was just falling apart with less than 50,000 miles. The F150 had 23,000 on it and the main bearings were rattling. Figured I'd go a different route since the last 2 new trucks I bought didn't hold up. The box was a little small for the F150... Could've been an inch or so wider to reach across the bed rails completely but it was still the size they said you needed. Even with the old Tundra being what the say 1/2 ton, I didn't think the box would fit. If it were a 1/4 inch wider it wouldn't have. The "J" bolts I use to bolt them down with wouldnt work since there isn't any room. Went redneck and put some 1/2 inch self-tapping screws in it.
