On private land I will leave it, on public like most it comes out unless I leave at dark and plan on being in before daylight. I no longer use bright eyes or any trail markers I use an app on my phone to walk into my stand. It has worked perfectly so far.

Two years ago, a friend of mine had his Summit stand stolen while tracking a deer. He shot the deer and left the stand hanging on the tree. When he went back an hour later, the stand was gone. BTW, we did find the deer but never found the AH that took the stand. It was at LBL.

I hunt a large private land with security so I will leave my stand on the tree and cover it with a special cover designed to be water resistant to keep my seat dry. I do think it could spook deer because its something different in their environment even though camoflaged. So, I am careful about which spots I will leave it. Once I left the cover on the ground because it was frozen stiff and a nice 2.5 year old walked by and was momemtarily spooked by the cover even though it looked like a pile of leaves. I don't know if it was the scent or the shape but he jumped but didn't run off. You might also camoflage it with sticks and branches to keep deer from sniffing on it.

I leave mine hanging on private land for the season, cable locked, and high enough up that I can still cable lock & unlock. I wouldn't even consider leaving it at the base of the tree...

Buddy had his stolen last week on private land. They broke the cable lock, or at least we assume they did. Huge chunks were missing in the bark where you could see they just kept slamming the stand into the tree until it broke the lock.

I only have access to public land and can't afford to have a stand stolen so it comes out with me after each hunt.
