I've been shooting the large bore moss bergs for over ten years and tried all kinds of guns including the SBE's, nothing can hold a candle to them. The 10ga bore just flat out produces better patterns. Get the 690 and shoot Nitro loads and you have the best rig you can get.

I handed mine to my wife one day to make one of those funny "it doesn't kick" videos. We were shooting skeet and I put a 3-1/2 4 shot in the tube then a couple 2-3/4 doves. She shot the first two dove shells then I was so scared she was going to break her collar bone I stopped her. Just couldn't do it. Thing kicks like a mule on steroids.

Never shot the 535, but I love my 835 and she takes everything from doves to yotes to turkeys. She just makes sure to punish me a little as well.

I also have the 935. Shooting a rhino and nitros. It will be hard to beat it for pattern and it doesn't kick all that bad. A lil heavier than my old 870 but lighter than my bps. I've heard good things about the 535 but I think the 835 is best for the money.

Chrmayo is dead on.
An 835/935 with a Rhino 690 shooting the triplex Nitro loads, you will have the best killing machine know to man. Certainly put a limbsaver pad on your gun, makes a huge difference. One more thing, you had better use a scope with this combination because under 30 yards its so tight you will miss a bird easily.

Unless you load your own ;\)

Does the 835 or 535 pattern good with the factory chokes?
a 670 after market choke will generally out shoot the factory choke by a lot, the most important thing you can do is polish the barrel and get n after market choke and generally 3 or 3.5 magblends is the ticket, every 835 I have used or patterened has loved the 670 jellyhead

The Jellyheads are the only tube I've seen in an 835 that patterns well at all, 670 is TIGHT for the larger bore of the 835/935 barrels. Most of the heavy shells 2-1/4 oz stuff needs more room or you risk over constricting the load and getting bounce which will blow your pattern apart. 680, 690 and even 700 for the big stuff, especially Nitro shells.
I ment to say a 690 in jellyhead but a pure gold 670 in my 835 is light out over 250 in the 10 in target at 40!!! I cant express enough the polishing of any shotgun barrel to get awesome patterns!!

This is how to polish a barrel—it will make a difference in patterns. You could take to a gunsmith, but this has worked for me on several barrels—only cost a few dollars and an hour or so of time. However, chrome lined barrels should never have this done.

That's my exact conclusion based on testing 5 or 6 different chokes with 10 or so different shells.

All this talk made me take my new benelli sbe 'll out today and shoot. Speaking of the nitro shells I shot 2 kinds of nitros, straight #5's and 4x5x7, that I had ordered and 1 hevi shot mag blend, 5x6x7. Best pattern out of my gun was rhino .670choke, I also used a gobbling thunder.665, at 42yds(ranged with rangefinder off of lead sled). With nitro 4x5x7, 2 1/4 oz load at 1240fps, the gun put 269 pellets in a 10" piece of paper. I shot all loads into paper targets mounted on different pieces of 3/8" inch plyboard to test for penetration. This "test" was pretty expensive and time consuming, oh yeah, and fun. I'm now ready for turkey season and very confident in my gun. Hope this info helps you a little.
