i have the 835 i like. but better bring your big boy pants on if your going to shoot the 3.5. i have the 500 not the 535 but its chambered for a 3 inch i like the 3.5 chamber for turkeys. if you want a 3 inch gun look into the stoeger m2000 about the same price as the mossbergs. it shoots better then either of the mossbergs by a long shot. just need to decide if you want a 3 or 3.5 inch gun.

Love both my 935s!!! \:\) I know you didn't ask but I thought I'd share anyway.

As for what deerhunter said...decide if you want to be able to shoot 3.5" shells. If not, I'd recommend you consider a Weatherby in addition to the Stoeger. I own a Weatherby SA-08 and I use it for everything other than turkeys and waterfowl. I think its pretty awesome.

835 seems to pattern better to me I don't know for sure if the 535 is over bored like the 835, polish the barrel and invest in a good choke and some magblend and their is no better gun than an 835 in my opinion

The main difference between the two is the 835 barrels are over-bored to a 10ga and restricts down to a 12ga, which can help out with patterns—especially with the longer barrels. I have an 835 and love it. It took awhile to figure my combo out, but I'm getting 175+ pellets, with no gaps in the pattern, in a 10" circle at 40yds.

Mossy 835 Ulti-Mag
28" polished barrel
3" Hevi-shot mag blends
.670 SSX choke

835 here. The reach to the pump is a little long for me and I've thought about selling it and getting the 935 which is its automatic brother. Other than that I love it but as mentioned it lays the smackdown on both ends. Mine has a jellyhead choke and I shoot 3 1/2" magblends.

Does the 835 or 535 pattern good with the factory chokes?

No, they perform better with aftermarket chokes in the .670-.676 range--that appears to be sweet spot, however every gun is different so you just have to shoot it and figure it out. It will shoot much better if you polish the barrel though.
