I am personally wanting to set up a hand gun for deer hunting. What gun do y'all recommend ? And what are normal effect range with a scoped hand gun ? I kinda had in mind a 44 or 45 Blackhawks .i own a 357 mag with 6 inch barrel but was thinking it wasn't a legal handgun to hunt with in tn

.357 mag with a 6" is not necessarily the best choice but I'm pretty sure that they're legal. Seems like Maybe D.A. or someone else has posted pictures of deer they've killed with a .357.
I like my .50 cal inline.

A Super Blackhawk would be a great choice, it is alot of gun for the money. Ive been wanting to scope mine but havent gotten around to it. Your 357 should work fine, but Id keep my shots close. 357 is perfectly legal, since TN removed the barrel restriction I believe the only requirement is that it must be centerfire.

6" .357 is perfectly legal in TN and very effective on deer at the right ranges, if proper ammo is used. I own a .44 with a 5+" bbl, but love .357s and will eventually own a 4-6" version and use it for hunting.

... What Mac range would you feel comfortable using one as far as ballistics are concerned ?

I got a 686 357 mag , I am thinking about scoping or trading for a 44 mag . Hate to let the 357 go but I can't afford to have two . That's why I am asking
