Yes there is such a thing......I think the worst I have ever had was a free BBQ sandwich from Hardee's. I don't want another, even if it is free. I am not impressed with the chain restaurants like corkys either.

I would be ashamed to call my bbq "memphis bbq" after that crap I got from burger king. It was a bad representation of Memphis bbq

Here in Buffalo I live very close to the Anchor Bar which is supposedly the home of BBQ wings.

I was hungry and stopped in, my official review:
1. Terrible
2. Terrible
3. Unreal expensive

I had announced I was from Memphis and when the waiter asked me what I thought about the wings I told him I get better wings at gas stations in Memphis.

There is lots of BBQ you can't eat.

Yeah there is. Grey meat that's not well smoked (if at all).

1) Gristly fat chunks in the meat means it wasn't cooked to a point long enough to render the fat out
2) Tough meat.....same as above
3) Poorly seasoned meat
4) Overcooked meat that's either charred and/or dry

Ummmmmmmmmmm, you're kidding, right? You mean a fast-food rendition of some of the finest eats in the world didn't equate?

Add liquid smoke to the list.

I've had my fair share of bad bbq. I've had brisket that looked about like that first picture. It was nasty, and tough very tough.

Believe it or not I have had some bad bbq judging competition plenty of times.

Competition BBQ can produce some of the worst BBQ out there. I'm always shocked at how bad some of the que is at the Memphis in May Comp. Playing into the judges hands requires lean meat and a sweet sauce, and man... some of it is just nasty, what I'd consider to be inedible and yet some guy will stand there with a straight face and tell you how good his boiled, injected, rubbed with MSG ribs are.

This is where I post (again) that Memphis BBQ hasn't impressed me yet. I haven't given up on it, but I'm at the point that when I want BBQ I just make it myself. I've lived in 4 states(born in Alabama) and travel a bunch...IMO Texas owns BBQ.

I know...I know I need to try Paynes.

I agree Poser... Until I actually bought a smoker and began taking the time to smoke meat correctly, with all the TLC in prep and cook needed, I had only lucked across GOOD BBQ a few times in my life.

I thought "maybe" it was just me and that the family was just trying to be nice until I fed my guys at work a few times - a few of whom are magnificent cooker's, and I STILL got rave reviews \:\)

I do nothing special either - just keeping a water pan in my cooker - using some mustard etc to glue to seasonings to the meat, sometimes cutting in spots and injecting seasoning but either way, seems it always disappears real fast \:\)

Hillbilly Bar-b-que in Dover,TN.

Absolutely the worst I've ever had. Bought one sandwich and thought I would have to pull over and puke before I got out of town.

Nasty sh*t
