I am looking to get my nephew a gun this year for deer season . With my budget it's gong to have to be a low end gun or a heck if a deal. I have found a rossi and h&r in 243 close to my budget , out of the two I'd like to hear pro and cons . I'd am leaning to the h&r but it's about $100 dollars higher

the H&R can get barrels fitted for a change of caliber ,I don't think you can do that with a rossi, also if sent in you use to be able to get a trigger job for no xtra cost if you were having something done.243 is a great caliber & hope he has a great season

Even thoe I wouldn't want to own either any more I have. That being said the H&R is a much better made gun. Just my two cents I would try to find something better than either one. I know I am going to get trounced on here but that is the way I feel.

H&R is head and shoulders above a Rossi imo. The net is full of threads about the Rossi inaccuracy. You ought to be able to find a used HnR for $200ish. Most of them are decent shooters.

I have never owned either but I would go with the H&R. I have read too many bad things about the Rossi's.

I agree about a H&R over a Rossi. I have had H&R rifles but got ride of them for something better. They are to finicky by the time you get it fingered out it will change. Go over to greybeard and see what those guys say and they love them.

rossi customer service and their guns are awefull go with h@r!!!! you could also look at Mossberg atr has trigger like savage and fluted barrel, if you get the youth model it also comes with different lop recoil pads, and are very accurate I bought one in 243 and 308 for 300 bucks

I used to have a .223 h&r that was dead nuts but got rid of it. My son has one in .243 and its pretty dang accurate too. Never owned the Rossi.
