It also helps to ask during spring or summer. Much more likely to be told no if you ask right before or during the season. If you're asking, chances are, you are not the only one. Best of luck!

I would advise just the opposite. I have never had a response of any kind from a letter. face to face is always better.

I mailed 100 letters this off season. Netted about 300 acres of land w/in 30 minutes of the house.

Lots of good tips on here.

I also offered labor specifically in my letters.

It would be best if you could find someone that the both of you know in common. Most people arent going to let a stranger hunt, but if someone you both know would put a word in for you, you will be 1000x better off.
