Okay so I've had my eyes on a few propertys I'd like to hunt, I've decided I'm going to ask them. Are there any tips or tricks to get them to say yes. I've never asked anyone before. Just wanting to increase my odds as much as possible...

I would just be polite and express that you'll take very good care of the place - leaving everything like you found it. Offer to sign a liability waiver in case of injury. Offer to help them with any work they may need done around the place.

If they say "no", thank them for their time and move on.

Go and borrow a handicap Walker from someone and slowly make your way to their door and tell them some story about getting hurt on the job or something and didn't have much money and we're looking for a place to shoot a deer to feed your family. Or you could try the wheelchair route. Throw in a kid helping you to the door and I'm sure they can't resist. Lol

if you get to hunt the property... print some hunting agreement forms for them to sign so you don't get into trouble and its helpful because if something happens and they tell the GW they never gave you the rite to hunt you got a form... but if they say no or somebody is hunting say thanks have a good day and move on to the next

I like to sit down and hand write a good old fashioned letter. People like getting letters, you don't have to worry about bothering them at a bad time, and you can word everything perfectly. Introduce yourself, tell how you found out about the property, you're experienced, offer to help with work on property, etc. then give your contact info and ask them to call you to discuss hunting rights if they would indulge the conversation. You may not get a call, but if not they would have said no anyway. Something about taking the time to write a letter seems to make a positive impression.

Yep, I write letters. Nowadays, walking up to someone's front door is frequently not welcome. Be sure to include phone number, email address, a current family picture if you have one. And yep, if you go to the door you better look sharp. Clean clothes, shoes, no scraggly facial hair or steel stuck through your skin or visible tattoo's, no chew or cigarette or alcohol smell either. Wash your vehicle. Know your preacher's name and Sunday School teacher also. No swearing. I feel like I'm telling my Son what to do before a job interview. It ain;t much different. Best of luck. Say your prayers too. The Lord works in mysterious ways.
