I haven't posted in a while so I thought I would. Been a good couple of days in the wood with my dogs. Yesterday my male pup Poplar Hill Bandit made his first solo tree, he treed like he'd been doing it for years. Broke my heart that I couldn't find it to knock it out to him, I saw it for a minute but with the leaves on the trees I just couldn't make it happen. Took his mama out this morning (Boggs Creek Shooter)to get her tuned up for the fall world NKC hunt in Indiana, she was on fire! He blew in and made five trees, saw three. I'll be glad when the leaves are gone. Thanks.

Very cool man.

I went with a dog one time and had a blast.
Always wished I had the time to train one myself.

That sounds like a lot of fun. I have never squirrel hunted with dogs.

Rob, your missing out! I used to make fun of people for squirrel hunting period. I viewed it as a way to introduce kids into hunting. I went one time with a couple friends of mine with their dogs and was hooked! Now I have a kennel full of feist. I raise and train them and do competition hunts. If you have ever coon hunted, its like that except a lot quicker and its daylight. We don't kill as many as the still hunter/marksman but for us its all about the dogs.

We normally kill more while dog hunting than still hunting. That may be because we don't still hunt and only dog hunt. Lots of fun. Dogs is 10x more fun that still hunting, IMO.
Ready for leaves to be gone.

How old and what kind of dog? I have had experience with dogs not getting good until they are 2-1/2 and some that tree by the time they are 7-8 months old.

I have a blast with my mt cur... He's been hitting 'em pretty hard. I agree the leaves are a killer. Max had one treed Monday before I got 50 yards from my truck. I have a young Black mouth cur I'm trying to get started now. Max is 2 and hunting hard, I couldn't ask more from him.
