I am considering listing my dog's services to track deer. She is a beagle/jack russell mix and has a great nose. She has found all but one deer I have had her track (that was because we couldn't find a blood trail or arrow). What is the going rate? I really don't want to overcharge people. I enjoy the process, but also don't want to do it for free either.

I don't know if there is a an actual going rate, but I'd think $75 minimum to get your dog out and drive within a 25-30 mile radius. Definitely a $100 if you are driving 50 miles or more. I'd expect folks would tip for this service, especially if you found the deer. To charge less than $75 and be "on call" would not be worth it. You could maybe offer a discount if the party were willing to pick you are your dog up and drive you to and from the location.

I think there is a web site for deer trackin dogs, there are a few guys in southern ohio close to our lease that use Dachshunds to track deer, but I dont know what their rate is,and they wont travel very far to do it so they must not charge much for their services.I think I would make it worth my time and trouble.

Id do it by the size of the deer tracked with a doe being the minimum.A big buck would be a premium and the price would depend on that.Id pay a decent price for a lost really good deer.

When they call and ask the price,Id say it depends on how big the deer is.That would also determine whether I traveled a long ways or not as well.I wouldn't charge if no deer was found but I would have a separate, flat rate for that.Actually,I think itwould be a neat business to have. You would need to do something else to make a living.

I fail to understand the business since of charging more for big bucks. What if it is a heavy deer with a small rack or a tiny buck with a huge rack? Which one is "big"?
If anything, finding the "big" would be a great source of marketing the business, why would you charge more for that?

This^^^^ I would nave a flat rate. Time I would have to travel would be the only factor in the price. Charging extra for a " big " buck would be like price gouging.
