Went to EPA's site and there is no plan for enforcement that was apparent - they are leaving that to the states. Right now in the PRC (Peoples Republic of CT) there are no specific punishments for using a non-EPA approved stove but they do ask you to use one. I cant find anything specific about TN. I currently use BioBricks which are kiln dried compressed wood chip bricks which are supposedly "green" - however they are not cheap but also produce next to no creosote and are really easy to deal with.

I wouldn't be too concerned about this. I have two stoves at home and have no plans to replace them.

The EPA has become Muscle for the "green" mafia.

Improve the damper on your wood stove, increase the price by $1900 and sell it as "green". Not enough suckers think its worth it???? Go see Vinnie at the EPA and get a rule passed....

BAM! Now everybody has to buy the epa approved stoves, the stove manufacturers, lumber/pellet industry, chimney sweeps, stove installers, all get a windfall while the consumer gets hosed for a 2% improvement in performance.

They have already done this with the freon, and incandescent light bulb sham. Guy I know sells the outdoor wood heaters, and said he was forced to start selling only the EPA approved models which cost $2,000 more. We will be taxed, regulated until we have nothing left for them to redistribute.
