For a school system to punish a kid for defending themselves is unthinkable yet I know that a lot of boneheaded, stupid idiots in school administration have the idiotic idea that in any fight, both parties are to blame. My Father was in school administration and this subject would get him fired up fast. He would go against the other officials loudly to say that many times a fight only has one guilty student involved and the other is simply getting picked on. I fail to see how any adult who has lived through school themselves can think walking away from a bully will fix the problem. They'll keep doing it until they are physically stopped and the kid who hits back should not have to suffer ANY consequences.

I do know of one teacher who had a kid that was getting picked on in his class. This was a shop class and one day the kid who had been picked on finally had enough. He got a 5 gallon bucket and filled it with hot water. Then slipped up behind the bully and poured it all over him. The teacher turned his back when he saw it happening and just laughed silently to himself. A lot of teachers would have jumped on the good kid but this teacher had enough common sense to recognize justice when he saw it. The bullying stopped too.

I hope yor Daughter beats the crap out of the bully girl myself. \:\)

Send the school a letter certified return receipt requested.

Now you have legal documentation of the bullying and Mention that they will be held legally liable for the safety of your child in their care.

Oh and a good punch in the gut doesn't leave a mark..... just sayin.

The picture in that article says a lot to me. I know that's just a reinactment for the article but I went to school myself and saw it happening just like that picture shows. In most instances teachers are right there when bullying happens and they do nothing. It's easier to just ignore it. Then when a kid brings a gun to school to end the bullying everybody acts like they had no idea what could have gone wrong. If teachers wanted to stop it, it would stop.

I would have a paper trail notifying the school of the bully and the specifics!! Most people are lawsuit happy!

Walking away only works for so long but I do hope Lauren can outlast the bully. If not, one swift punch or kick should fix it.
I only had one try to bully me. I finally got in her face and told her to either hit me or shut up because I was sick of her threats and tired of hearing her voice. She turned out to be a bag of hot air.
Maybe the same will be true in Lauren's case.

Not sure if there are school resource officers in your daughters school or not. Most of our middle and high schools have one. If so you can notify the school first and if they don't seem receptive then a call to the local PD with a bullying complaint will do the trick. If they have an SRO - he or she will get involved and an arrest can be made.

If your daughter is a karate expert or trainee and uses it on the bully she may get in trouble for that as Karate is sometimes looked upon as a weapon or she if inadvertently really hurts the antagonist you could be liable in civil court.

Go thru the proper channels. I'm saying this as someone who was bullied in school. Been there have the tee-shirt.

At my daughter's high school, not only do both parties get in trouble, they get arrested, whoever is involved.
