Ok........ I've got to get my metabolism moving again! I've stopped protein powder as of 2 weeks ago hoping I could send my system into weight loss shock.....Nope, aint happening.

I'm kicking cardio's arse 5 times a week - keeping the heart rate from 120-145 or so.

The ONLY thing I can think to do at this point is roll my lazy carcass out of bed and hour early - hit my little handy dandy shop gym since its a bit dark to be running at 415 out in the boonies with no light but the moon, and knock out about 20 minutes each morning then continue on my 5 evening cardio - blending in the 3 evening resistance into the 5 evening cardio.

As you are probably aware, I'm typing this for my own motivational alert - HOPING this message will sink into my overworked hard drive with many a bad sector and go into workout mode tomorrow morning at 415 \:\)

Anyone else doing any 2 a day workouts?? If so how many times a week and did you see a lot of benefit from it?

Something I noticed in one of your other posts, was that you are doing cardio before lifting. You'll see better results if you lift heavy and do cardio last.

Are you having variety in your cardio? If you are going out doing the hard run etc.. your body learns your routine and slows metabolism in anticipation. Mix up cardio, hill sprint repeates, long slow run, trail run, eliptical macheine, hard bike ride, etc...

No. I'm lucky to get the running in I do now.

But I'm switching to "conserve" mode now. TAFKAP III is due any minute now, and I'll need all the rest I can get.

I run 2 times a day when I have the time.I'll usually run 5 or 6 miles in the morning and run another 3-4 miles that evening.

Tried that - I skimp on cardio that way. I've basically doubled my cardio and reduced resistance.

1/2 mile hard run, 5/7 minutes hard elyptical, 5 minutes bike, 1 minute to drop HR a little between each - back thru that again

The advice above is good! Be sure that you are getting the HR up after you lift .. and dont forget to change things up. Have you ever tried boxing??

Also, how many meals are you eating per day?


Killer idea .. we should get together a team and do a TNDeer 5K team!

I am a large fan of the lifting side. Of course the more muscle you have the more you burn. The thing I like about it is that you will burn calories longer during the lift/fatigue/repair process than you will the cardio...

I am coming in on this late but how much attn are you giving your diet?

My diet is the worst it's been in 5 yrs... Now, with that said - my appetite is INSANE since I stepped up cardio several weeks ago, and I mean INSANE!! The fatigue and insane appetite worried me enough that I went to my GP last week for bloodwork......all good EXCEPT low Calcium.. I get outside enough, am a dairy fanatic and take D3 daily SO she is sending me to an endocrinologist tomorrow for his assessment. Guys in the last 8 weeks or so I can run home eat lunch - FALL ASLEEP in the chair at noon !! I've NEVER been a napper! Now I get 6.5 to 7 hrs sleep most nights and even some 8's on the weekend so I don't think its sleep related. All I know is I'm exhausted, tired, hungry ALL the time and diet is pathetic. On a good note - ran a half mile Monday in just over 4 minutes \:\) (still gaining weight - at 225 now) before hitting the elliptical hard - keeping the heart rate at about 135-145 - then resistance - then a 5 minute 1/2 mile following the resistance then 5 minutes hard on the elliptical again. BTW, my resistance workouts are patterned as in P90X - Bi/Tri/Shoulder, Bi/Tri/Shoulder, 1 minute break, etc etc etc.. Heart rate stays high thru my resistance workouts.
