Got to first say that this year has been a poor fishing year for me. Creek fishing aint what it usually is, maybe has something to do with the abundance of rain, but myself and most people I know have not done well fishing creeks this year. Because of the poor fishing, I also haven't been fishing as much. And with boat motor trouble I haven't taken my boat out in a while either.

Figured I would try for some night fishing after work yesterday, since I will be less likely to go fishing once deer season opens.

Went with a buddy and brought canned corn for bait and fished in one of my better spots for bottom fishing. I just wanted to catch me a carp since last time I went I had a huge one pull loose.

The first hook up was on my big rod, and it crossed with one of my buddy's lines and ended up breaking the line.

The second hook up was on the small rod with 6 lb test and I have not been that nervous about getting a fish on the bank in a long time! The rod has sat in the hot sun in the bed of my truck far too long this summer, the line was "creaking" on the eyes and I was sure it would break. But I got the net around this fish -

Beats my previous PB by just a little. Used two different scales and kept getting different readings, but it's roughly 16 1/2 pounds. Previous PB was in May 2011 and was 16 lb 4 oz.

I caught one more on the big rod, a little smaller (below), and my buddy only caught 2 baby catfish... can't feel too bad cause he usually catches the big ones right out from under me.

Congratsulations, when I worked at the World's Fair I carp fished regularly with a 5 foot ultralight and 4lb test. Its good to see people just for fun. Some of my most enjoyable trips were wade fishing the Wolf River in Pickett Co. Usually lots of fish and no competition. I've caught every thing from shiners to 3-4lb smallmouth using a ultralight set up or my flyrod. Always catch and release.

I miss those days!!!!
