I looked more closely at this and found that it's actually less than 1%. Turns out that for the last 10 years or more PGC has cut only about 0.30% annually on the State Game Lands.
When I plan hardwood timber cuts for large private properties, I never cut less than 5% of the property in a given year. I just skip several years before making another cut.
What size are these properties - how many acres are we talking?
How many acres is "too small of a cut" for good regeneration of desirable trees in your experience?
Do you recommend long range tree harvest plans for these properties? If so, is it on a 100-year cycle? 80-year cycle? Something else?
