I've got a brand new, plain jane, Thompson Center Impact that I'm going to be using this year. I'm finally hanging up the Knight Wolverine after many years of use. Here's the thing... I really don't want to shoot saboted bullets and I hate PowerBelts. Given that, what bullet would you guys recommend??? I don't mind going heavy. I just want something consistently accurate.

Yeah, I thought about the Maxi-Balls and Maxi-Hunters and Hornady has that Great Plains bullet too. Not trying to steer the conversation, but those are ones I had thought of since they are "popular".

Personally, I don't like the plastic residue left in the barrel even though I know it can be cleaned out. It has also been my experience that bullets become more difficult to load shot after shot with plastic sabots. If I can get the accuracy I'm after I'd like to use just a straight lead bullet of some design.

To each his own I guess.

I shot TC Maxi Hunters back in the day with decent results. No patches, they come pre-lubed.

I would 2nd the FPBs.

Barnes also makes a couple bullets for .500 S&W loads that some have used sabotless with good results, I can't remember the weights on them but they look impressive.

I am thinking of FPBs or the Maxi Balls in the one I am setting up. The hornady sabotless might go in my other 50 cals.
