If your going to drop the coin on a rangefinder buy a good one the first time! I went the tight @#$ route and regretted it. you can use it for your bow hunting as well as rifle hunting. While a cheap range finder will work for bow hunting ,IMO, anything under a 800yd-1,000 yd finder is wasted money if it is going to pull double duty. Most range finders in this class have real trouble picking up soft target/deer past 300 yds.

Leupold RX-1000i TBR with DNA
Use for rifle and bow. Small, light weight.
My only criticism is that the readout is very bright at night, dawn/dusk.

I had an Opti-Logic and sent it back after just a week.

Leupold RX600. Got it on sale from Bass Pro. It does not have the angle range in it but it seems pretty accurate. Same batteries after 2 years.

Don't go cheep buy the best you can afford. I bought a Swarovski, and have been very happy with it. Now let me say I bought it for long range but have used it for 25yrd or so and it has done very well at all ranges.

Ive got a base model Halo. NEVER had a problem with it in 3 years. If thats what suits your budget, then by all means, buy it. I have no regrets and would reccommend it to anyone. Just make sure you get the model that has the range you want.

The only drawback anyone has ever come up to me with was at the sporting goods store. Guy said, "Point it at that black gun safe and range it". it wouldnt read it, the Nikon would. I told em. "Thanks guys, Ill be sure to use a nikon next time go to the woods to hunt shiny gloss black gun safes."

I own a bushnell scott 1000 also, loved it for archery, but my leupold is all Ive carried this year.
