So, using that proportion, 63 gr wt = 90 gr vol, correct?

You are correct but the only sure way to know is weigh the charge from your measure.

I threw 10 charges from my powder measure set at 100gr volume. Then weighed them on my scale averaging right at 70.5 gr. actual weight. If I'm doing load development at the range with a new bullet then I weigh the loads out on the scale for the most consistency. I usually weigh them out for my quick loaders prior to a hunt if I have time.

As someone who has only shot Pyrodex, and considering a change to BH 209, I thank you all for the info. ;\)

I used it for the first time on Friday. Shot 16 times and the thing was cleaner than 1 shot of pyrodex. I'm a convert. Also I used their tubes they sell which have the correct graduations on them to measure volume.

You may like these as well. I dont trust the marks on the BH209 tubes, I always measure from an actual powder measure.

MUP, I recently switched to BH from Pyrodex. I think you will be pleased. Very clean, all you need is Hoppes number 9 to clean it with. I've shot the minimum charge of 80 grains and the max of 120 (by volume) and both grouped well at 100 yds. I'm shooting Barnes expander mz 250 grain bullets with Nobel shotgun primers.

Cool. I've been using 90 gr of pyro with a 260 gr lead only saboted bullet, and have been more than happy with the accuracy, but always a little put off by the sludge I rake out of the barrel at each cleaning. \:\)

I set up a CVA Wolf for a bud of mine sunday...110gr by volume with barnes 290gr tez...Shot about 15 times with excellent accuracy out to 200yds.......one pass with the bore snake cleaned the barrel right up....Note, my experience with BH209 it will shoot high on a clean barrel, so I leave my barrel fouled for hunting.
