I measure outside edge to outside edge of farthest shot in group with digital calipers then subtract bullet diameter to give me the MOA. Is this how you all do it? Or do you measure one single hole to get your diameter subtraction? Also heard some measure center to center. Just wondering what the standard is. Mr Big and Deer Assasin please chime in.

Thanks

Center to center minus bullet diameter. That's the way I've always done it.

Measure center to center unless its a really clean hole. That's measuring your group size. MOA is minute of angle which is just a fancy way of saying 1.047" per 100 yards.

You only subtract bullet dia. if you measure outside to outside. Subtracting the dia. then just gives you the center to center measurement.

for measuring groups

outside edge to outside edge of the 2 farthest shots - bullet diameter

so I don't have to subtract bullet diameter (I didn't do as well with that in school \:\) ), I measure from farside edge of one hole to the nearside edge of the furthest hole for group spread

That will only work if you have 2 complete bullet holes available. It wouldn't work here:

Don't give him the big head, that group was shot with the rifle safely locked down in a robotic lead sled, computer actuated trigger, 11 feet from the muzzle.
