I was just figuring out how much my arrows plus broadhead weighs. I came up with 358 total grains. I shoot a Hoyt Maxxis 31 set at 60lbs with 29 inch draw. Will this produce good kinetic energy?

Your kinetic energy should be somewhere around 63ft/lbs with that setup. Personally, that arrow weight is a little bit on the light side considering the draw length. For that draw length, I've found that arrows in the 390gr-420gr give a better balance of trajectory and down-range stored energy. The 358gr arrow at 20yds will have 59ft/lbs of kinetic energy and traveling at 274fps, while a 416gr arrow will have 61ft/lbs of kinetic energy and traveling at 256fps. There is only a trajectory difference of .75" between the two arrows between 20yds and 30yds, but the difference is the amount of stored energy between the two—imagine a Ping-Pong ball and a rubber super ball both traveling at the same speed....which one will hurt the worst? The idea is to use as much weight as possible without sacrificing a large amount of trajectory—that balance can take time to find.

Thanks TNDeerGUY, I was afraid that my arrow /broadhead setup might be a little light. me personally , I would take energy over speed anytime.
