Just saw this new section. I was glad to see it. I need all the tips and help I can get. I have battled to keep my weight in check forever. I have a family history of overweight Italians. I dropped 25lbs over the winter through a regiment of 1750 calories per day and walking 15-20 miles per week. But, over the summer - though I kept up the walking, I let my calories go and have picked some of that weight back up. Exercising without regulating calories has never helped me lose weight. So...as of yesterday - back on the Wagon!!!! I had about 1600 calories yesterday. I have set a goal to shoot for 1500 calories, but go no higher than 1760 each day. I got as high as 230lbs. I probably am around 215 right not. I am aiming for 180. Let's do it!!!!!

Rather than focusing on the number of calories, try controlling the content of those calories. 2000 calories of nutritious food is much better for you than 1000 calories of processed crap.

As a whole, society will be much better off by focusing on DIET, rather than making A DIET their focus. What you consume is often more important than how much of it you consume.

Well...I avoid carbs, try to eat high protein type foods, of course with cutting way down on carbs I am avoiding sugars. I am not on a low carb diet, but I have found out that is helps to speed up the weight loss and keeps me fuller to focus on eating more protein and less "bad" carbs. Most of all of this low-fat food is filled with corn syrup and sugar to lower the "fat content". I avoid all that.

I've read that keeping your calories in the 50-30-20 ratio helps a lot. 50% of your calories from protein, 30% from carbs and 20% from fat. The same guy went on to say that this should change after weight loss to desired weight to a 40-40-20 or 40-30-30 ratio.
