Hey there! I am new to this site and new to hunting. I have fished since I was born, but my dad never got into hunting. I picked up a interest for hunting last year and got started. I killed a doe with my grandfathers bow, a nice 6 pointer, and even got a long beard on my own.

Last year I only hunted public land mostly TVA. This year I am lucky enough to have a buddy who doesn't hunt but has land to give me all rights to the property its only about 15 acres, but its better than nothing. I put out a trail cam and on the very first night a got pictures of does and one picture with a deer in the back ground (I can't tell if its a buck or not it appears to have a large rack, what do you guys think?) I have about 4 does one with a fawn and what seems to be two bucks.

I am having a problem attracking the bucks...I got lucky and one night (no corn left) a spike wondered past the camera. The other buck is a ghost and not sure he even exist but hasn't come back since having his picture taken.

Check out the Tom in a staring competion with the box turtle.

Whats up man!, welcome to the sight and congrats on a great first year of hunting. If you stick around you will learn pretty much everything you need to know about hunting from the guys on here.

As for attracting bucks. You cant expect to get pictures of big bucks right off the bat once you put a camera out. It takes time for them to get used to the flash and all that good stuff. I dont put out corn. I set my camera up on a natural funnel leading into a soybean field and I put out a Trophy Rock mineral block and around it I poured out a bottle of Deer Cane gel, you can get the deer cane at Walmart but the trophy rock you will have to get from somewhere like bass pro or order it. I have had my cameras up for 6 weeks and just this past week they have really started nailing the mineral lick and I got my first big buck pictures last week.

Now is a good time to get salt and mineral licks out. Bucks need salt and minerals now more than ever because they are finishing up growing their antlers and they need the minerals to help harden the antlers. I would get that out as quick as you can. Try to get it on a natural trail for the deer so they find it quicker and most importantly stay scent free if you can so that your smell is not around the lick. Then jsut be patient and wait at the very least 1 week before you go back and check your cameras. Good Luck!! If you need anything dont be afraid to ask questions. This is a great sight and you will soon learn not to pay attention to anything anybody says ;\)

Welcome, nice pics. Looks like a nice little hunting spot you got. 15 acres is plenty of land to hunt on, try to find several other areas as not to burn out the 15 by hunting it too frequently. \:\) Good luck!
