I too have a new savage 10 MLII. I hope to be able to shoot a 250 gr barnes expander. I notice the bullet is only .451 diameter. Will the black sabot that comes with the bullet work. I plan on using ww209 primers are these the best choice. I am going to start with the VV110 powder. Because so far that is all I have been able to find. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.

Yes they will they are actually mmp. I shot the 300 exp out of mine. Great bullet very accurate & deadly on deer. 99% dropped on the spot. N110 is a great powder 40-44gns. Sounds like you have the makings for a deer killer for sure.

In my opinion, that N-110 is as good as it gets for what you're shooting. It's all I used when I had one.

I see a number of comments on the "smokeless ML" lately. Help me out here guys. Any sites out there that will provide more info on the "smokeless" propelant topic. Or is this a special type of rifle barrel only?
Thanks

If you are asking about using smokeless powder in a regular muzzleloader other than a Savage, then no you will not find it discussed anywhere on an open forum. It's taboo.

Discussions here and elsewhere are about the Savage, smokeless replacement barrels for some muzzleloaders, or 45/70 government conversion barrels.

If I misunderstood your question, I apologize in advance.

Thanks for the info. I appears my first though was correct, Savage is a "new" replacement barrel for a ML in order to go smokeless.
Thanks again.

Savage has made a muzzle loader gun that uses smokeless powder. Do not use smokeless powder in any think not made for it.

Savage makes a factory smokeless muzzleloader.

There are others companies that make smokeless barrels for some makes of muzzleloaders or conversion barrels for some center fire rifles.

Break action 45/70 Gorvernments such as the Encore, h&r ultra, and several CVAs can also be sent in to sources that can convert them to .45 caliber smokeless muzzleloaders.
