The guy I dove hunted with this morning has a bunch of quail that he sells, live or dressed.

I told him I wanted to buy a few, clean them and try to cook them.

He said I got a better idea and gave me 8 birds already dressed and frozen. \:D

Gonna try my new smoker out on them this afternoon.

Tips?
Advice?

Sounds good, internal temp is everything. Smoke with some sort of liquid like apple juice or beer. Moist heat you can't beat. I've never smoked quail, but Google smoke time, shouldn't take long at all

I'd probably brine and inject them to keep them moist.

You really need to bring those down to me. I have two picked ducks to trade for them that would be better smoked.

If you don't want to trade the best advice I can give you is to fry them properly. \:\)

Is the skin still on? My guess would be no...if not a brine is definitely in order.
