I use my Rem 700 stainless synthetic in .270 for those rainy days. I even use it sometimes when it's not raining. ;\)

Since water on my glasses pretty much ruin my chances of seeing a deer on a rainy day, I usually don't go. I do have a home gun-smithed model 98 Mauser though that fits the bill for a rough conditions gun. It has an Adams & Bennett barrel, cheapo synthetic stock, Timney sportsman trigger and Leupold Rifleman 3x9 scope. Yeah, it's blued but I don't care if it rusts so it don't. Has anybody else noticed that about blued guns? Once you stop caring about them, they just don't rust anymore. \:\)

Sometimes though I take my Remington 700 stainless CDL on a misty day.

if it's raining out i just put a light coating of grease on the outside my rifle and it will be protected all day. then i know for sure it won't rust on me or anything.

Not all blued rifles are equal. I've had some show signs of rust with just a sprinkle. Streangely enough, that was a Weatherby/Howa.
