Good advice. Make sure to be Upwind while pulling the vines from tree.

If I were highly allergic, I would NOT hunt this tree.

As for me, it I have a tree like this, I cut the vines at the base of the tree (in MID-SUMMER), then pull the vines off in late summer. You still need to wash afterward, but the fresh green oil is not as easy to fly all over you.

If things go bad, make sure and post pictures. \:D \:D

I keep alcohol in my truck year round, if I'm around it I will wipe down my arms in hopes to keep from spreading.

Catman is right about your clothes. The oil will get into your gloves and clothing and stay there, although you may be able to wash the oil out.

Yes, I would cut them at the base and then go back a week later if possible.

I have never got it. To date, I am 100% immune to it. All my buddies back home would always call me if they had a tree with it. The older I get, the more I wonder if I'm just pushing my luck every time I mess with it. The odd thing about it, I'm allergic to dam near everything else:)

Go to the drug store and get some stuff called "Ivy Block" I swear by it... #&%*&#$%!!*:^$)_#$*##@ Wear rubber boots too. Don't need multiple layers of clothes but log sleeves, pants is good... No need to worry if you can wash with soap and water within 30 min to an hour after exposure.

Tecnu. If you ever think you come in contact just lather it up and rinse off.
